CD Cases : Not Recyclable

Plastic Codes

Plastics of a specific type are labeled with a number from 1 to 7 as part of the resin code.
Plastics without a number are made of an amalgamation of plastic-types, or one that is not part of the code.
Plastics with codes 1, 2, 4, 5, are typically recycable.

Code 3 is PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride).
It is used in construction as pipe because of its toughness and fire retarding properties.
It is totally not recyclable though. It contains a toxic gas that is released when burned. No good.

Code 6 is Polystyrene (Styrofoam).
Straight up just bad.
Totally not recyclable.
It's time to ban it just like CFC's have been banned.
sigh.
The disgusting Capitalist model is such a dead-end system.
If it makes money, it is good.
sigh.
Can humanity embrace a more ostrich-approach to governing its affairs.
Probably not.

Code 7 is Other.
Includes a whole range of plastics including Fiberglass and Nylon.
Typically not recyclable.

CD Cases

CD Cases are not recyclable. (period)
Nor are they biodegradeable.
They will simply sit in the landfill, or in some hole, taking up space that could be used to sustain plant life.
Plastics that do not break down and are not recycled, are dead-ends for the planet.

The Music Industry

The music industry needs to stop using a non-recyclable plastic in the construction of its cases.

Code 2 Plastic is HDPE (High Density Poly Ethylene).
It's used in Milk Jugs and Plastic Bottles and even Playground Equipment.

It's plenty tough and flexible.

Why isn't the industry using it?
Why else?
Money.
It's always about money and the bottom line in the dead-end Capitalist system.
We so have to evolve beyond it before we hit the point of no return.
The solution : love of course, but, the first step is talking about our feelings openly and without threat of being rebuked or chastised.
That step will be huge in fixing our emotionally exhausted souls.

In Trouble

I know the Music Industry is in trouble.
It has my empathy.
But, what we are experiencing is humanity coming to realize that our Have / Have-Not system of running our society is totally unfulfilling and we want more out of life.

People download and torrent tons for free.

It's very Capitalist really.
Take as much as you can.
Give as little as you can.
The Capitalist system.
I know : yuck.

I feel for the studios and artists who are losing money
,but,
come on guys and girls.
Money is really unimportant.

The Environment. The Earth. Our Home.
That's important.

Drop the unrecyclable CD Cases please.
Money comes and Money goes,
but,
our Earth needs us : now.

Old CD Cases

Don't throw them!

I got a bunch from the local Co-Op radio station and I'm donating them to Value Village.

There are plenty of people who scratch their heads and say to themselves,
"Man. I wish I had a CD Case for this CD so it doesn't get damaged."

One person's junk is another's treasure.
